When can I use the hip seat?

You can use the BY MINELLA hip seat from when your child is 6 months old and up to 20 kg. From 0–6 months it can be used as nursing support.

Which size should I choose?

S/M fits up to a waist circumference of 100 cm. L/XL fits up to 135 cm. Measure your waist midway between your lowest rib and the top of your hip bone. You lose a couple of centimeters where the belt ends overlap. If you're unsure between two sizes, choose the larger one.

What's the difference between BY MINELLA and cheaper alternatives?

Every single BY MINELLA hip seat is made with craftsmanship, quality materials, and lots of love. We've prioritized your child's hip health and passed rigorous safety tests and professional approval processes.

What is a hip seat?

A hip seat is a smart, simple tool for carrying your child easily and effortlessly. It's a simple carrying solution that buckles around your waist and sits over your hips. There's a safe, "shelf-like" seat with a 30° angle where your child sits while you support them with one arm. The seat places your child's hips in the recommended M-position and relieves your back, arms, shoulders, and hips.

Is the hip seat hands-free?

No, the hip seat is not hands-free. It's designed to make "hip carrying" easy, so children get up and down easily while the weight is taken off your back and arms. At the same time, it carries all your things in the 4 pockets.

Do you have one for twins?

The hip seat is designed to carry one child at a time. Parents of twins often buy two — one for each parent.

What are the different carrying positions?

You can use the hip seat in 4 carrying positions. Use it from 6 months up to 20 kg. Always wear it over your hips and more snug than loose for the most comfortable position.

Where is the hip seat produced?

Our hip seat is produced by a carefully chosen supplier in China that we've visited in person. It's a small factory with good working conditions and sustainable materials — which is why the hip seat is also certified both chemically and mechanically.

Safety

Is the material safe for children?

Absolutely. The hip seat is tested, verified, and approved both chemically and mechanically, and meets EU standards (EN71-3:2019 + A1:2021, CEN/TR 16512:2015) for this type of baby equipment.

Is the hip seat recommended by professionals?

Yes. Several healthcare professionals were involved in the design process so that the right ergonomic fit could be developed to give optimal support to both you and your child.

Is there an instructional video?

Yes — you'll find it on the "How to use it" page. Always remember to place the hip seat over your hips, at the waist, and tighten it for the most comfortable position.

Is the hip seat certified?

Yes, the hip seat is safety-certified through CNAS and meets EU standards chemically and mechanically. CNAS is one of the world's leading bodies for inspection, verification, testing, and certification.
